Teaching & Learning Approach

Support Strategies

We use a wide range of strategies to support children's behaviour, communication, and emotional needs, including:

  • Visual timetables & individual schedules

  • Timers, behaviour ladders, and token reward systems

  • Social stories, pictures, and symbols

  • Makaton signing and Colourful Semantics

  • TEACCH-based structure for organising tasks

  • Sensory room access and resources

  • Zones of Regulation, Intensive Interaction, and Attention Autism

Therapy & Specialist Input

  • Speech and Language Therapy:

    • Provided by the NHS

    • A dedicated therapist is attached to the Centre and attends one full day each week.

  • Occupational Therapy:

    • Currently offered on a consultative basis due to NHS staff shortages

    • OT input and resources are available to support daily sensory regulation.
