Welcome from the Headteacher

It is my pleasure to welcome you to Feltham Hill Infant and Nursery School.

We are a happy, nurturing and inclusive school where children are encouraged to Learn, Explore, Achieve, Respect and Nurture. We want every child to feel safe, valued and excited about coming to school, and we work hard to create an environment where children can develop confidence, independence and a lifelong love of learning.

As an Infant and Nursery school, we understand how important these early years of education are. Our children learn best when they are actively involved, curious and given opportunities to explore. Our approach to teaching reflects this. Alongside high-quality direct teaching, children have regular opportunities to learn through purposeful play, practical experiences and exploration.

Learning does not only happen at a table or on the carpet. Our classrooms and outdoor spaces are carefully planned to encourage children to investigate, problem-solve, communicate and apply their learning in different ways. Outdoor learning and play are an important part of school life, giving children opportunities to be active, creative, take appropriate risks and develop their social and emotional skills.

We have high expectations for all of our children while recognising that every child is unique. Our staff know the children well and work hard to provide the right balance of support and challenge so that everyone can experience success. We are proud of our inclusive ethos and our Specialist Centre, which supports children with autism and social communication needs as part of our wider school community.

Relationships are at the heart of everything we do. We believe children learn best when they feel secure, understood and respected. Our calm, nurturing approach supports children to understand their emotions, develop positive relationships and become increasingly independent in managing themselves and their learning.

We also recognise that parents and carers are children's first and most important educators. Strong partnerships between home and school make a real difference, and we value the relationships we build with our families. We want parents and carers to feel welcomed, involved and confident that we are working together to give their children the very best start.

I am extremely proud to be leading Feltham Hill Infant and Nursery School and of the caring, vibrant community we have created together.
