This half term we have been learning about people who help us. We had a visit from the local firefighters. We got to use the hose, go in the fire engine and try on some of their equipment!
We have been making pictures of emergency vehicles using paint, collage and pastels.
In our role play we have a frozen castle, the children have been role playing the story of frozen, reading books and counting out ingredients for spells using their number bonds to 5.
This half term we have been learning about Room on the broom, dragons, with a focus on the book Zog, and Christmas. In our role play we had a vets where children were measuring animals, pretending to look after them and buying pet toys and bandages. We then had a ‘dragon’ doctors based on the book ‘Zog and the flying doctors’.
We have been retelling the story of Room on the broom in our book corner with puppets and props. We have been using our counting skills, making spells and counting out the ingredients.
We also had the Tropical Zoo come and visit and saw lots of lizards and snakes as well as other animals such as a cockroach, a rabbit and snails.
Lion class have settled into reception really well. We have been learning all about lions. We have been making lions using paint, collage, pastels and the iPad.
We have had a home corner in our role play. The children have been writing shopping lists and making up scenarios from home such as cooking dinner, phoning people and washing the dishes!
The children loved having Earth Song come to visit. The children got to see lots of different instruments from Africa. We listened to different songs and music from Africa. The children also got to have a go on different instruments.
In our book corner we have been retelling some of our favourite stories using puppets and props, such as the hungry caterpillar and the Gruffalo.
