Key Stage 1 - Hummingbird Class
The Hummingbird Class curriculum reflects the Early Years Foundation Stage as well as the national curriculum in the mainstream school. Learning opportunities are differentiated to suit each child and reflect the advice given from speech therapists and occupational therapists.
We had the pleasure of celebrating Chinese New Year with a workshop. In class we pretend to go to a chinese restaurant and write stories about the Dragon who came to Tea.
We followed directions to make a bird. We learnt about common birds we would see locality and some facts about these. Did you know the Robin is our National bird?
We have been reading The Gingerbread Man and made some as Christmas gifts for our parents. We also made some large ones for us to eat. Which part would you eat first if they tried running away? We ate ours as a snack around our campfire.
We took part in a skipping workshop which was so much fun!!
We have been lucky this term to have a session with Earth Song, a visiting musical troupe who enrich our lives with sound. We conducted a small army of drummer boys and play some ourselves. We acted out the story of Bo Jangles to music and even tried to play the Kora.
