A message from our Chair of Governors
Dear Parents and Carers
At Feltham Hill Infant and Nursery School our vision is to Learn, Explore, Achieve, Respect and Nurture, and I am sure you would whole-heartedly agree with me that this is the experience our children have day in and day out.
After joining the Governing Body in January 2015 I have been lucky enough to be appointed as Chair for this academic year. I would like to take this opportunity to thank Mr David Malcolm, our previous Chair, for his dedication and commitment to driving forward progress and improvement alongside the school’s Senior Leadership Team. He has truly done a wonderful job and we are incredibly grateful for how he led the Governing Body.
Thank you to all of those who came out and supported us for the Christmas Bazaar; an absolutely amazing effort from a core group of people ensured we raised over £3000 to fund play and IT equipment. We would love to establish a strong core of parents and carers who would be interested in running events within school, for example we would love to re-launch the May Fair. If you are interested in volunteering some time to help the school, please let the office know and we will be in touch. Having a successful PTA is a great opportunity to meet fellow parents and carers, get to know the school and really give back to your child’s educational experience. Please don’t let the worry about time commitment put you off – it is not designed to be too troublesome and will be fun too!
What have also been brilliant this half term are the Christmas concerts that each year group has produced. We would like to say well done to all of the children – we loved it. And to the staff of FHIN – thank you for making the visiting families so welcome and proud of their children. One Governor after a Year 1 performance commented: ‘I came away with a lump in my throat… They had all learnt the words to the songs, narrators knew their lines, the dances were wonderful, it was fantastic to see how much they had learnt.’ Parents also gave feedback: ‘It was beautiful!’ and ‘Wow! It’s amazing how much they have learnt for their own life skills.’ Congratulations to all of you.
As 2016 approaches, I know that we and the staff are excited to welcome the much anticipated Ofsted inspection; a chance for the children can show off their excellence and eagerness to learn – they really are a credit to you all. Yet, all of this would not be possible without the extraordinary efforts of our dedicated and incredibly hard-working team of teachers and support staff. Our thanks goes to them all for establishing such a safe, engaging and fun learning environment.
Finally, my thanks goes to Mrs White and her Leadership Team who are a real driving force in ensuring our children get a fantastic deal each and every day. We look forward to what the year ahead brings.
