Year 2 at Windsor Castle
Year 2 trip to Windsor Castle
Last week our Year 2 classes had a very exciting trip to the very beautiful and historic Windsor Castle.
Since the beginning of the Half Term, they have been learning about Castles- school workshops, research, drawing and sketching castles, building castles using different materials.
The Queen was present at the castle and her special flag-the Royal Standard (of the United Kingdom) was up to show this!
Another highlight was the children getting to see the Changing of the Guard ceremony.
Children saw and learnt about why there are certain features at the castle-the moat, arrow holes, murder holes and they also learnt the history of Windsor Castle and why it was built where it is.
For the final part of the visit, children went into St.Georges Chapel, seeing the Order of the Garter and the royal tombs- including Henry the Vlll's tomb with one of his wives-Jane Seymour.
The trip was great and very informative for our Year 2 children, they were beautifully behaved and represented our school beautifully!
